Clinical Need

While our technology has a broad range of applications, the immediate need which we are targeting is in therapy of peripheral arterial disease (PAD). It is estimated that 4 million peripheral revascularization procedures were performed globally in 2017 to treat patients with PAD.
In all such endovascular procedures, one of the main challenges is accurate motion control and navigation of guide-wires to cross the arterial occlusions.

The Bypass versus Angioplasty in Severe Ischaemia of the Leg (BASIL) trial reported a 20% immediate technical failure rate for peripheral angioplasty. Most immediate failure rates were due to the inability of the guide-wire to cross the lesion, leading to the need for open surgery.

It is estimated that an interventionalist spends 50-80% of procedure time manipulating the guidewire for such procedures. This is the first clinical need that our team aims to address with our innovative platform technology.

Value Proposition
A novel, yet simple, device and navigation system to help address the challenges in device (e.g. guidewire, catheter) positioning as well as device tracking and navigation during endovascular (and cardiac) interventions with the goal of reducing failure rates (i.e. lesion crossing) and procedure times.
Technology

Our platform technology has a wide range of applications in many areas of cardiovascular interventions. Applications include peripheral angioplasty, endovascular and intracardiac imaging, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), and cardiac angioplasty.
Our first product, the Cath-Pilot allows for full control and navigation of any off-the-shelf guidewire to facilitate crossing of arterial occlusions during peripheral revascularization procedures.
This technology does not alter the conventional procedure, is easy to use, and can be applied to any off-the-shelf guidewire or catheter. The Cath-Pilot promises to reduce failure rates, procedure times, and overall cost of peripheral revascularization procedures.

Compatible
Our system is designed to be used with any off-the-shelf catheter or guidewire, making it simpler and more natural to use.

Cost Effective
An inexpensive solution promising to add significant value by reducing procedure failure rates and times.

Easy Integration
Our system does not alter the conventional procedure flow and does not require modification of the procedure room.

Device Tracking
Our system allows accurate tracking of the position of the guidewire tip.

Broad Application
Applicable to EVAR, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and endovascular and intracardiac imaging.

Enhanced Navigation
Our devices add extra degrees of freedom to improve the interventionalist’s navigation ability.
